In the early morning hours of December 14, agents of the National Police of National Police arrested a 60-year-old man in the neighborhood of Es Viver, accused of allegedly mistreating his mother. According to the police report, the arrest took place after an argument that led to a situation of extreme tension in the family home.
The victim’s story
The elderly woman was found by the agents in an obvious state of nervousness, trembling and sitting on a sofa. According to her testimony, the argument began after she reproached her son for his behavior during the visit of a relative. In response, the man allegedly hurled insults and, at one point, pushed her, causing her to fall to the floor.
The detainee’s reaction
The suspect initially requested help to lift his mother, but according to the victim’s account, he did not provide immediate assistance. He only acted when he became aware of the imminent arrival of the police. Upon arrival, the officers noticed inconsistencies in the version of the detainee, who tried to justify the facts by assuring that when he returned home he found his mother on the floor. Given the indications of abuse, the agents proceeded to arrest the man, while the mother was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation. The National Police has confirmed that the investigations are continuing to fully clarify what happened and to take the appropriate measures.
