Last November, the tranquility of Santa Gertrudis was interrupted by an assault that shocked the neighbors. Two hooded men broke into a house after breaking the access fence, surprising an elderly couple who were inside. The attackers carried a large knife and did not hesitate to use violence to subdue the victims. The woman was the first to be attacked: she was knocked to the ground, beaten and threatened with the knife, receiving several cuts on her arms to force her to reveal where the money was. After obtaining the information, the robbers went to the indicated location, where they stole 12,000 euros in cash before quickly fleeing the scene.

The case was taken over by the Judicial Police Team of the Civil Guard of Ibiza, which began an exhaustive investigation to identify those responsible. Thanks to the evidence collected at the scene and the analysis of clues, the agents were able to track down the alleged culprits.
Last Tuesday, the Civil Guard carried out an operation at the home of one of the suspects, where they found elements that were decisive for the case, such as the clothes used during the robbery and the vehicle used for the escape. Hours later, the second suspect was arrested at his place of work.
Arrested and charged
The two detainees, aged 40 and 45, both of South American origin, face serious charges as alleged perpetrators of a crime of robbery with violence. The Guardia Civil has placed special emphasis on the brutality of the attack, which left the victims physically and emotionally affected.
