Ibiza and Formentera: a drive towards energy efficiency
The distribution of resources shows the importance of the Pitiusas islands in this program. So far, 439 homes in Ibiza and Formentera have received favorable resolutions, with aid totaling 4.8 million euros. These figures reflect the effort to improve energy efficiency in housing, a key aspect in an environment where sustainability is increasingly a priority. Actions include the installation of renewable air-conditioning systems, replacement of enclosures, replacement of windows and other improvements to reduce energy consumption. These initiatives not only benefit homeowners, but also contribute to environmental conservation and the reduction of polluting emissions.
Extension of application deadline to 2025
The Govern has extended the deadline to apply for these grants until June 30, 2025, allowing more citizens to benefit from these measures. The subsidies, which can cover up to 80% of the cost in buildings and 40% in individual homes, are designed to finance both the works and the necessary technical projects. Those interested should apply through the rehabilitation offices of the professional associations, such as the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos or the Colegio de Aparejadores y Arquitectos TĆ©cnicos. In addition, detailed information and the procedure can be consulted at the official web site www.orbaleares.com.
A collective effort towards sustainability
The Councilor for Housing, Territory and Mobility, JosĆ© Luis Mateo, stressed that these grants reflect the “commitment” of the Govern with the “improvement of the quality of life of citizens and environmental sustainability”. According to Mateo, compliance with the milestones established by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has allowed access to this additional funding, which guarantees the continuity and expansion of the program. Since its launch, this plan has shown an increasing rate of management and concession. Of the initial 29.5 million euros allocated, the Government has already granted close to 21 million, which represents 70% of the budget’s execution.
Goal: modernize housing and promote sustainability
The aid program also includes measures such as the drafting of the building book and other actions to modernize the housing stock of the islands. In the case of Ibiza and Formentera, these improvements are especially relevant, as they seek to address the specific challenges of the island environment, such as the high cost of living and the particular climatic conditions.
