Next Wednesday, January 22, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia will inaugurate the 45th edition of Fitur, the most important international event for the tourism industry, which will be held at Ifema Madrid until Sunday 26. This year, the fair expects to reach 250,000 attendees, matching last year’s record figures.
A global event
The International Tourism Fair will be attended by 9,500 companies and representatives from 156 countries, consolidating its position as a global tourism showcase. This year, Brazil is positioned as the partner country, highlighting its cultural and natural wealth in an eye-catching space in Pavilion 3. Among the novelties of this edition, the increase of 10% in exhibitors, the incorporation of 11 new countries, mainly from Africa and Asia, and an estimated economic impact of 445 million euros for Madrid, benefiting sectors such as hospitality, transport and leisure, stand out.
Ibiza and its commitment to deseasonalization
The Consell de Ibiza will take advantage of Fitur 2025 to position the island as a sports destination that attracts domestic visitors during the off-peak months. According to the president of the Consell, Vicent MarĆ, the strategy seeks to promote sporting events and cultural activities to balance the influx of tourists beyond the summer. Ibiza’s stand, located in Pavilion 9, will have 300 mĀ² dedicated to highlighting the island’s sporting, cultural and gastronomic offerings. The central event will take place on Thursday, January 23 at the Movistar Arena in Madrid, with the participation of prominent athletes such as Alberto Contador and Miguel Indurain, who will share their experience in Ibiza.
A more sustainable fair
Following the line of sustainability initiated in previous editions, Fitur will once again measure its carbon footprint and extend its analysis to indirect emissions. In addition, thematic spaces such as FiturNext, Fitur Cruises and Fitur Sports will seek to highlight how tourism can be an engine of positive change for communities and the environment.
