The Consell d’Entitats de Formentera has taken a step forward in the regulation of traffic on the island for the 2025 season.
At the meeting held this Thursday in the plenary hall of the Consell Insular, it has been approved to reduce by 4% the number of vehicles authorized for visitors, while increasing the number of places for Ibiza residents.
The first vice-president and councilor of Mobility and Environment, Verónica Castelló, presented in the first session of the Consell d’Entitats two alternatives for the regulation of vehicle access.
Finally, after the debate of the last few weeks, has been given the green light to the proposal to increase the number of vehicles allowed for Ibiza residents to 235, plus 50 motorcycles. On the other hand, the number of authorized vehicles for tourists is reduced from 1,805 to 1,732, while motorcycles go from 182 to 122.
A regulatory model that remains in place
The period of application of the measure will remain unchanged and will continue to be in force from June 1 to September 30, as in previous years. The Consell’s intention is to continue advancing in a sustainable mobility model without affecting the needs of residents or the tourist activity of the island.
As for the rates, it has been decided to maintain the same amounts as in 2024. During the months of July and August, passenger cars will have to pay 9 euros per day and motorcycles 4.50 euros, with a minimum rate set at 45 and 22.5 euros respectively.
In the months of June and September, the daily rate will be 6 euros for passenger cars and 3 euros for motorcycles, with a minimum amount of 30 and 15 euros.
The last word at the extraordinary plenary session
After receiving the backing of the Consell d’Entitats, the proposal must be ratified at an extraordinary plenary session scheduled for February 20.
In this plenary session, the final plan of Formentera.eco 2025, which will mark the regulation of vehicles for the next season, will be put to vote.
