The weather in the Balearic Islands will be generally stable and sunny during this long weekend, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). Between Friday and Monday, the archipelago will enjoy little cloudy sky and high maximum temperatures for the time of the year, with values that will be between 18 and 22 degrees.
This has been detailed by the spokesman of the Aemet in the Balearic Islands, Jorge Rodriguez, who has indicated that the situation will be marked by a clear trend towards stability, although with some occasional exceptions at the beginning of the holiday period.
Friday: clouds, strong wind and active warnings
Friday will begin with cloudy skies and the possibility of occasional showers, especially in Menorca and the north of Mallorca. However, during the afternoon a progressive improvement is expected that will leave the skies little cloudy, according to the official forecast.
Night temperatures will rise and daytime temperatures will remain the same, Rodriguez explained. In spite of the thermal softness, the protagonism of Friday will have the northwest wind, which will blow with moderate intensity, and even with strong intervals in certain areas.
For this reason, the Aemet has activated the yellow warning for coastal phenomena in Ibiza, Formentera and in the north and northeast of Mallorca, where gusts of between 60 and 70 km / h are expected. In addition, there will be yellow warning for wind in the Serra de Tramuntana, where gusts could reach 80 km / h.
Saturday: noticeable improvement and rising temperatures
On Saturday the meteorological panorama will improve notably. Rodriguez has pointed out that
It is expected that during this day the maximum temperatures will be between 18 and 22 degrees, which represents an anomalous value for December, and that will allow to enjoy the outdoors in pleasant conditions. In general terms, the day is expected to be one of the most stable and pleasant of the long weekend throughout the archipelago.
Sunday and Monday: continued good weather
Stability will also be maintained during Sunday and Monday, key dates within the bridge for residents and visitors. The sky will remain slightly cloudy and temperatures with little change compared to Saturday, said the Aemet, confirming a prolongation of the mild conditions.
The wind will be westerly, with light to moderate intensity, which will reduce the risk of adverse phenomena and will contribute to an even milder thermal perception. With these conditions, both outdoor activities and travel between islands will be favored.
A long weekend with almost spring-like weather
The behavior of temperatures during these days is well above the usual average for this time of year. The presence of warmer air masses and the absence of important frontal systems allow the days of the long weekend in the Balearic Islands to be more similar to an early spring than to a conventional December.
This weather scenario will allow the enjoyment of outdoor activities, both in urban and natural environments, and will favor the influx of visitors during one of the most awaited long weekends before the end of the year.
Wind recommendations in areas with wind warnings
Although the environment will be mostly stable, the Aemet reminds that the active warnings for wind and coastal phenomena in some areas of the archipelago should be taken into account, especially in Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Caution is recommended in exposed areas and avoid nautical activities or travel in mountain areas during the hours of greatest wind intensity.
With these data, it is confirmed that the weather in the Balearic Islands during the long weekend will be characterized by a combination of pleasant temperatures, clear skies and moderate risk of wind in some areas, a scenario that invites optimism for those who have planned to enjoy the archipelago during these holidays.
