The Ibiza Town Hall has announced the suspension of all activities scheduled for October 31, 1 and 2 November, in solidarity with the victims of the recent catastrophe caused by the DANA in Valencia. The consistory has decreed official mourning, so the flags will fly at half-mast in municipal buildings. In a message of support to those affected, the mayor of Ibiza, Rafael Triguero, said: “In times of pain, our thoughts are with the victims of the DANA. Together we must rebuild and find hope in solidarity”. This decision implies the cancellation of several Halloween events in the city, including traditional activities that attract residents and visitors.
Cancelled activities
The cancelled activities include the costume parade, the Zombie Walk, make-up workshops and street animation, among others, which were to be held on October 31 as part of the Ibiza Halloween Festival. The dramatized visit to the Old Cemetery, scheduled for the same date, is postponed to November 7. On November 1, the cancelled activities include the screening of the film The Neverending Story, several workshops, concerts and a DJ event at the Plaza del Parque. Likewise, on November 2, screenings, dramatized visits in Dalt Vila and a heritage route of Eivissa Patrimoni Mundial will be suspended. With this measure, the City Council of Ibiza shows its respect and support at a difficult time for many families affected by the tragedy in Valencia, inviting citizens to join in this gesture of solidarity.
