The remodeling of Avenida España in Ibiza for the moment has no start date. According to sources from the City Council of Vila to La Voz de Ibiza, the bidding project is “still in process”. More than a year after the signing of the 2023 Capital Law Agreement, by which the Consell de Ibiza had committed to pay a total of 1.5 million euros to the Town Hall, the works to reform what is one of the main arteries of the city have not yet begun. This agreement had been celebrated in December of that year, between the president of the Consell de Ibiza, Vicent Marí, the councilor of Municipal Cooperation, Maria Fajarnés, the mayor Rafael Triguero, and the first deputy mayor and councilor of Economic Resources, Gemma Marí. Although the City Council has four years to execute and justify the works to be done, the remodeling project has not yet been awarded to the company that will eventually do it. At the time, Triguero had stressed that in this process of transformation of Vila special care would be taken not to harm either the citizens or the economic activity of the area. “They are necessary investments,” were his words, to which he added: “But no work will be done during the tourist season and there will be a minimal impact on citizens and merchants. It is an instruction for the remodeling of Avenida España and for other works”.
