The Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera has incorporated to the Emergency Department of the Hospital Can Misses six doctors, trained in the specialty of Family and Community Medicine, under the MIR system (Medical Intern Resident) and whose training has been carried out all of them in the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera. They are doctors Adrian Suarez Guillén, Maria del Carmen Carmona Carricondo, Paula Romero Rodriguez, Olga Revilla Poza, Javier Marqués Dealbert and Francisco Javier Palma Maldonado who join the staff of the Emergency Department coordinated by Dr. Neus Pereyra Ribas. The six physicians have joined the Emergency Department in November, progressively, after enjoying a period of rest after the demanding four years of training in their specialty as medical interns (MIR) that ended in September this year. The Emergency Department has attended 54,831 emergencies so far this year, which is a very moderate increase compared to the same period last year when 53,816 cases were attended. It should be noted that 67% of the emergencies attended, that is, almost seven out of every ten cases, could have been attended in Primary Care, either in the Primary Care Emergency Services (SUAP) or in the programmed consultations of each health center. These conclusions are drawn from the data by level of severity attended to in the Emergency Department of the Hospital Can Misses, technically known as triage. In this way, 0.22% (1,449 cases) of the emergencies attended were level 1 of
triagei.e. Resuscitation2.52% (1,379 cases) had triage level 2, categorized as EmergencyLevel 3 of triage, according to severity, corresponds to Emergency and 27.6% of the cases (15,133) have been attended to in this parameter; Level 4, considered to be the most important level of triage, corresponds to Emergency. Less urgent 53.4% of the cases were attended (29,279); finally, in level 5, classified as non-urgent, 13.62% of the cases were attended (7,470). Therefore, levels 4 and 5 represent 36,749 emergencies that should have been attended in primary care emergency departments and consultations (29,279 cases) or in scheduled consultations at each health center.
The average time to resolve cases in the ER decreased by 28%.
