The National Police has arrested in Ibiza a 51-year-old man of Moroccan origin, and a 41-year-old Spanish woman, as alleged perpetrators of a robbery with violence in a house in Can Misses.
The assault, which took place on December 17, involved a group of at least five hooded men, one of whom was carrying a knife.
A planned robbery with a hasty escape
According to the complaint filed by the victim, the assailants broke into the garden of the house after forcing a door whose lock did not work. Once inside, they threatened the owner and went to the area where they assumed a safe was located. However, the operation was thwarted when accomplices watching outside alerted them to the arrival of witnesses and police patrols. The gang fled on the run before completing the robbery.
Investigation underway and first arrests
After weeks of work, the agents of the Specialized and Violent Crime Group (UDEV) of the National Police managed to identify and arrest two of those involved. One of them was part of the group that broke into the house, while the other person was carrying out surveillance work in the vicinity.
The authorities are continuing their investigations to find the rest of the assailants, whose whereabouts are still unknown.
Robbery uncovers a previous theft
During the investigation of the robbery, the agents also clarified a robbery that occurred in 2023, whose perpetrator turned out to be the same couple arrested in connection with the robbery with violence. On that occasion, the victim reported the theft of valuables and money by her maid and her partner, who have now been identified as the same people arrested for the recent robbery.
Despite progress in the investigation, police continue to gather evidence and leads to locate and arrest the other gang members involved in the December raid.
