Agents of the National Police of Ibiza proceeded to the arrest, last Tuesday, of two men of Algerian origin, as alleged perpetrators of crimes against the rights of foreign citizens and favoring illegal immigration. The reception of the immigrants arrived to the pitiusas, has been a total of two boats, which were located on the night of November 18 arriving indistinctly one after the other, both to the island of Ibiza and 45 miles south of Cape Mola de Formentera, the latter had to be rescued by Salvamento Marítimo. The Local Brigade of Foreigners and Borders of the National Police Station in Ibiza and the Red Cross, which carried out an initial triage to check their state of health, took charge of the new arrivals in order to carry out the corresponding procedures for their return to their country. After further investigations by the Alien Affairs Unit, and after interviews with the immigrants on the boats, it was possible to identify the people who had started the journey from Algeria, completely disregarding all the safety measures required at an international level, putting the lives of the occupants at risk. Throughout the crossing, it was the same skippers who were in charge of giving orders to the occupants and managing the boat, as reported this morning by the authorities. Those identified as skippers were placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction of Ibiza.
