Education in Ibiza faces a new chapter with the presentation of the preliminary projects for the expansion of the CEIP Sant Ciriac and Sant Carles, located in Santa Eulària. These reforms, announced by the Minister of Education, Antoni Vera, represent an investment of 13.2 million euros and have as main objective to improve the capacity of both centers and respond to the growing demand for schooling on the island.
Transformation in Sant Ciriac
The CEIP Sant Ciriac, currently one of the main schools in the area, will undergo a comprehensive reform. The project includes the construction of an additional building that will house kindergarten classrooms, dining room, gymnasium and other necessary facilities to become a two-track school.
On the other hand, the current building will be renovated to accommodate primary school students, with spaces for teaching, administration and complementary activities. This work will have a budget of around 9.4 million euros.
Expansion in Sant Carles
The CEIP Sant Carles will also undergo a major refurbishment, which will increase its capacity and solve accessibility problems. After the expansion, the center will have new classrooms, library, dining room and multipurpose spaces, adapted to the needs of the educational community. This project has been allocated more than 3.8 million euros and will significantly increase the school’s surface area. Conseller Vera stressed that these actions are part of an infrastructure plan that provides for the construction and improvement of schools throughout the Balearic Islands. As he explained, Ibiza, and in particular Santa Eulària, is one of the priority areas due to the constant increase of its school population.
