The headquarters of the Consell de Ibiza today hosted the official presentation of the second edition of the Fibwi Balearic Islands Base Football Trophy, an event that, in addition to its sporting impact, seeks to position itself as a key tool for the deseasonalization of tourism on the island. During the presentation, the Councilor for Sports, Salvador Losa, and the municipal representatives of Sant Antoni and Sant Josep, David Sanchez and Xicu Ribas, highlighted the importance of this tournament in strengthening the sports and tourism offer of Ibiza.
News and social commitment in this edition
The tournament, which will take place between December 27 and 30, will have the participation of 42 teams and more than 600 children, who will play 125 matches in different venues of the municipality, such as Portmany, Sant Josep, Sant Rafael and Sant Agustí.
The organization expects the arrival of between 1,000 and 1,100 people, including players and their families, which will generate a significant economic impact for the island during these dates. This year, the tournament expands its categories and launches a mobile application that will allow to follow in real time the results and activities. In addition, the organization reinforces its commitment to a safe environment through a code of conduct with zero tolerance towards violence on the fields, training for volunteers and awareness campaigns.
Solidarity with Paiporta Football Club
One of the most outstanding actions of this edition is the special invitation to the Paiporta Football Club, which will participate free of charge after the recent floods that affected their town. This gesture of solidarity has been possible thanks to the collaboration of Baleària, Hotel Puchet and Alsa.
Event program and institutional support
The tournament will start with an official inauguration on December 27 at 6:30 pm at the Paseo de Ses Fonts in Sant Antoni. During the following two days the competition phase will take place, and on December 30 the finals will be played at the Portmany field, where the trophy ceremony will also be held.
