The president of the PP of the Balearic Islands, Marga Prohenshas demanded the PSIB-PSOE to apologize to the president of the Consell de Ibiza, Vicent Marí, after the provisional dismissal of the case La vida islados. During her speech at the traditional Christmas party of the Balearic PP, Prohens described the dismissal of the case as “magnificent news” which, she said, “does justice and shows that time puts everyone in their place”.
Prohens has used this judicial resolution as an example to harshly criticize the political strategy of the PSIB-PSOE, which she accused of acting “in a defamatory way” during the last legislature. “This policy of defamation and mud, to which the people have already said enough, is what we have come to change,” she said. The popular leader also pointed directly to the Office of Prevention and Fight against Corruption, created under the mandate of the previous Govern led by Francina Armengol, describing it as an “anti-opposition socialist office”. According to Prohens, this institution was used to orchestrate a “fabricated” complaint against Vicent Marí in an attempt to “recover the Consell de Ibiza and stop the political change in the Balearic Islands”. Prohens demanded the PSIB-PSOE and various political leaders, including Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and former Balearic President Francina Armengol, to publicly apologize for the “defamations” against Marí. “If they still have some dignity and honorability left, they should come out today to publicly apologize to the president of the Consell de Ibiza,” she declared. In addition, the president of the PP of the Balearic Islands reiterated her rejection of the accusations made against Marí, pointing out that “it is proven” that these were part of an unfair campaign of attacks against him and his entourage.
Prohens accuses PSOE of corruption
In her speech, Prohens went further, accusing the PSOE of being the protagonist of “the largest alleged corruption scheme in the history of Spain”, mentioning alleged ramifications in the Balearic Islands during the Government of Francina Armengol. She also recalled the Multimedia case, which affected members of the PSIB-PSOE and which, according to Prohens, continues to receive no explanations or public apologies. The popular leader concluded her speech by defending judicial independence and warning that “no one should go through the defenselessness of slander and defamation”, stressing that justice “has returned to be in the hands of judges, where it always should have been”.
