Vicent Marí has criticized the Socialist Party and the Anti-Corruption Office and has blamed them for accusing him unfairly. After being dismissed in the case “La Vida Islados“, the president of the Consell de Ibiza, has pointed out that both actors have “never been interested in the truth, but the only objective was to defame a political opponent”.
During a “personal assessment” that he wanted to make in his court appearance, the president stressed: “From the first day I have only asked for one thing: to be listened to, but they never wanted to listen to me”. And he added: “I have had to put up with insults and comments that were untruthful”. “When I have been able to speak and I have been able to present evidence, this complaint has been filed,” he concluded. As for influence peddling, he concluded that the complaint was based on “vague initial suspicions” that for two years have not been confirmed with any data that demonstrates a personal relationship with the awardee of the contrary and, on the possible coercion of the comptroller, there is no evidence of “arbitrary pressure on this person”. In his assessment, Marí stressed that it has come this far “by partisan interests and an Anti-Corruption Office led by socialists, which has been shown that they have never been interested in the truth”. On the other hand, Marí wanted to thank the unconditional support provided by his family, his team and his closest environment. “It has been a very long and very hard process for them,” he said. The president has pronounced these words accompanied by the entire government team, in a press room where he was accompanied by mayors, regional deputies, a senator and a national deputy, as well as island directors and employees of the institution.
Discontinuance
Marí, appeared to confirm the provisional file of the investigation that for two years has been carried out by the Court of Instruction number 4 of Ibiza as a result of a complaint for alleged irregularities in the hiring of a tourism promotion campaign by the emergency route, which was raised to the prosecution by the Office of Prevention and Fight against Corruption of the Balearic Islands, and which was joined by the PSOE, the businessman Francisco Vilás and the controller of the Consell Insular de Ibiza. The judge considers proven, based on evidence and testimonies analyzed that none of the crimes of prevarication, influence peddling and coercion of the comptroller, which were attributed to her in the story, were committed. Specifically, the crime of prevarication is ruled out because the judge understands that the intervention of the president “was made according to law, was supported by technical reports and their decisions could be appealed”, highlighting that despite the options to do so, this case was not taken to the court of the contentious-administrative.
