The Ibiza Town Hall has decided to increase security measures in the municipal sports centers after several weekends of thefts that have affected both the facilities and the sports community. Until now, the sports centers only had indoor cameras, but the council has expanded surveillance with the installation of outdoor cameras to monitor the access and surroundings. In addition, security alarms and sensors have been installed throughout the building, as they were previously only located in the reception areas.
These improvements seek not only to prevent future thefts, but also to identify the perpetrators and understand the modus operandi behind these incidents. The City Council has pointed out that these measures reinforce its commitment to guarantee safety in public and sports spaces.
Condemnation of the facts and message to the public
The Ibiza Town Hall has regretted the thefts, noting that the negative effects fall on all citizens. It has also called for neighborhood collaboration to report any suspicious activity that may help identify those responsible. “We strongly condemn any act that is outside the legality and we will continue working to protect common spaces and ensure that these acts are not repeated,” municipal sources have stated.
