As is now tradition, the Ibiza Town Hall once again brought together lovers of local cuisine in a new edition of the traditional Christmas Sauce contest. Dozens of people gathered in the tent located in Vara de Rey, where they competed in two categories: without broth and with broth. Claudia Prats Costa won the latter category and also in the general category.
The record number of participants, with a total of 27 sauces (24 with broth and 3 without broth) already presaged a successful evening. Around the tent, dozens of people filled the space to enjoy the traditional dances of the Colla de Sa Bodega, as well as a “xacota pagesa”, where they listened to “ucs”, traditional Ibizan songs, and paid tribute to Vicent Jeroni des Racó, who recently passed away at the age of 94. The day was accompanied by a popular chocolatada, as well as a tasting of Christmas sauce offered by the Restaurant Can Alfredo. The jury was formed by María Torres and Joan Colomar, from the Sa Bodega group, and María José Amengual, from Ibiza Sabors. They had to taste a total of 27 sauces among which they valued aspects such as taste, smell, appearance and respect for the traditional recipe. The result was as follows:
