The heavy rains that hit Ibiza last December 31 disrupted the end of the year plans, leaving the island without two of its most anticipated events: the XLII Pujada a la Catedral and the iconic party La Movida. However, the Ibiza Town Hall has announced that both activities will be held this Saturday, January 4, bringing back the festive atmosphere to the city.
La Pujada a la Catedral: tradition and emotion
The XLII Pujada a la Catedral will start at 16:30 hours from the platforms of the Port of Ibiza. This event, which combines sport and tradition, is a classic in the Christmas calendar of the island. The councilman of Fiestas, Francisco Torres, has pointed out that participants will not have to re-register, as the lists remain active from the original date.
Torres stressed that this is a unique opportunity to enjoy the history and culture of the city while practicing sport. The route will take participants through the steep streets leading to the emblematic temple of Dalt Vila, offering both a physical and cultural experience. This event, known for attracting runners of all ages and levels, is consolidating itself as one of the most inclusive of the season.
La Movida and music as a finishing touch
After the Pujada, the festive atmosphere will continue with live music and the expected popular party La Movida. From 8:00 pm, the local group Ibossim Flamenco will offer a concert in the PlaƧa del Parc, encouraging attendees with their characteristic style that fuses traditional and contemporary rhythms. Afterwards, La Movida will take center stage in the tent set up on the Vara de Rey promenade, where it will be held from 9:30 pm until 2:30 am. This party, considered a tribute to past decades, is one of the most beloved by residents and visitors. Francisco Torres assured that it will be the perfect moment to relive great musical hits and celebrate the union that characterizes these dates.
Traffic and parking restrictions
The City Council has announced that, on the occasion of the celebration of the Pujada a la Catedral, traffic and parking restrictions will be implemented to ensure the safety of participants and facilitate the development of the event..
In addition, parking in the Cathedral Square will be restricted from 08:00 to 18:00 hours on Saturday. These measures seek to minimize inconvenience to residents and ensure a safe and accessible environment for all attendees.
