The Guardia Civil, the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Australian Police carried out last December 11 in Barcelona a joint operation that dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to the international trafficking of synthetic drugs. international trafficking of synthetic drugs.. In the operation, called “KETAXES-MOLLY”, eleven people were arrested , one of them in Ibiza.
According to the Guardia Civil and the Mossos d’Esquadra, the criminal network focused its activities on the trafficking of cocaine, ketamine and MDMA, operating with branches in Europe, America, Africa and Oceania. The investigation began in April 2024 after identifying a network dedicated to the shipment of narcotic substances from Barcelona to Australia, hidden in international parcels.
A hierarchical structure for drug trafficking
The organization operated with a well-defined hierarchical structure. At the top was a 39-year-old man who led the operation, managing money movements, sales prices and international contacts. The lower levels included those responsible for storing the substances, preparing shipments and distributing the drugs to the end consumer.
During the exploitation phase, nine searches were carried out: eight in Barcelona and one in Ibiza. In these raids, the agents seized a wide variety of narcotic substances, such as cocaine, tusi (known as “pink cocaine”), hashish, marijuana, ketamine and methamphetamines.
In addition, specialized machinery, precision scales, vacuum packaging machines, cell phones, computer equipment, a safe, relevant documentation and cash were confiscated.
The detainees include Spanish, Italian, German and Chilean nationals.
The operation also had the collaboration of the Australian Federal Police, whose agents traveled to Barcelona to assist in the searches and the analysis of information. In addition, it was coordinated from London by liaisons from this police force and by the Spanish Interior Attaché in the United Kingdom.
