The City Council of Sant Antoni has approved in the ordinary plenary session of January the final award of the new boulevard of Vara de Rey street, after its initial approval in the extraordinary plenary session of January 8. The work, to be carried out by the company UTE Facsa-Islasfalto, has a budget of 4,787,305.03 euros, of which 1.24 million are subsidized with European funds Next Generation EU.
The project will allow the pedestrian connection of the Ponent promenade with the center of the municipality, up to Bartolomé Vicente Ramón street, with the aim of integrating the old town with the tourist attraction of the sunset. In the same session, the City Council has declared of special municipal interest the rehabilitation works of the pavilion 202 in Sa Coma, destined to infrastructures for the protection of the natural and marine environment. This declaration allows the application of a 95% rebate on the tax on constructions, installations and works(ICIO). On the other hand, the modification of the ordinance of the public service of drinking water and sanitation has been initially approved, with an increase of 6.67 % in the rates, based on the annual revision that considers factors such as the price of energy and the maintenance of the service.
Revocation of the concession of the Plaza España subway parking lot
The plenary has also rejected the appeal against the refusal of the assignment of the concession contract for the construction and operation of the subway parking of Plaza España and adjacent streets. The concessionaire Med Real Estate Opportunity had requested the assignment of the contract to Ibiza Movilidad, but this was denied because it did not meet the requirements of technical and economic solvency. However, Ibiza Movilidad took over the operation of the parking lot before obtaining the authorization, which has led to the beginning of the process of termination of the contract, which will now be sent to the Consell Consultiu de las Illes Balears before its final resolution. Until the file is finalized and the concession is awarded to a new company, Ibiza Movilidad must continue to manage the parking lot to ensure the general interest and avoid harm to users.
City Council calls for repeal of the new passenger registration system
The plenary has approved a motion of the Popular Party to urge the Government of Spain to repeal Royal Decree 933/2021, which establishes documentary registration obligations for travelers and vehicle renters. According to the agreement, this regulation has a negative impact on tourism companies and violates fundamental rights related to data protection and privacy. In addition, it has been agreed to create the first portfolio of social services of the City Council, a proposal presented by the PSOE that will be launched this year. Finally, at the initiative of Unidas Podemos, the City Council has urged the Consell d’Eivissa to include funding for municipal programs for housing rehabilitation and improvement of accessibility and energy efficiency. It has also requested the Balearic Government to extend the public calls for aid for neighborhoods considered of special attention.
