The World Matanzas Rice Competition is an annual gastronomic event held in Sant Antoni de Portmany. This contest, which in 2025 has reached its 12th edition, brings together teams competing in preparing the traditional “arroz de matanzas”, a typical Ibizan dish that was made during the time of the pig slaughter in the winter months. The event took place in S’Era d’en Manyà and Rosell street, where the participants cooked their versions of the “arroz de matanzas”. In addition to the culinary competition, the day was complemented with music, animation, country dancing and the awarding of prizes for the best rice dishes and the best decoration of the stalls. This contest has established itself as one of the most important events on the island, attracting numerous attendees and participants every year.
