2,961 accommodation offers are now available on the new platform launched by the Consell Insular de Ibiza to consult all regulated tourist accommodation and thus avoid falling into illegal rentals, which flourish every season on the island.
This is a tool to combat intrusion in the sector and protect both tourists and legal businesses, as described by the Councilor for Tourism Management, Mariano Juan. With this, the Consell seeks to intensify the fight against illegal supply, facilitate the detection of irregularities and promote complaints. This portal provides users with information on the legally authorized tourist offer, which includes accommodation such as hotels, apartments, campsites, holiday homes and rural tourism. The online system is still in “revision” mode, that is, the owners of these establishments must corroborate that the information is correct and inform if any adjustments are necessary. However, it is already possible to check the available and authorized tourist vacancies.
How to know if tourist rentals are legal
The The system made available by the Consell with official data is very easy to use, which allows for an easy quick check if the accommodation is legal or not.
After finding an apartment or villa available, the first piece of information that the tourist must have is the identification code of that accommodation, which generally has eight digits between letters and numbers (‘APM’ for apartments and ‘ETV’ for houses). If the house or apartment you have rented has this code, you can enter it in the search engine (the famous magnifying glass) to find out if the establishment is registered. In addition, there are all the listings of apartments, houses, rural tourism, hotels and campsites that are authorized by the Consell, so it also allows tourists to find the offer they are looking for.
Official data
In total, 2,961 lodging places are available, distributed in:
- 215 apartments (18,327 beds)
- 2,389 tourist dwellings (18,384 beds)
- 46 rural tourism (924 beds)
- 306 hotel establishments (58,817 beds)
- 5 campsites (1,598 beds)
This means that, in the whole island, there are 98,050 regulated places in total. As for legal tourist homes, one of the main sources of intrusion, the platform also allows to know the amount in each municipality. Sant Josep leads the ranking of authorized tourist homes, with a total of 955. It is followed by Santa Eulària (809), Sant Antoni (331), Sant Joan (250) and Vila (43).

The platform also serves as a channel for disseminating the variety of tourist offers that the island has available for travelers. For example, it has 3,643 “complementary offers”. It lists travel agencies, reservation centers, tourist centers, boats with entertainment activities, tourist guides, mid-tourism, entertainment, restaurants and active tourism.
