The Santa Eulària Business Association has expressed its concern about the increasing increase of insecurity in the municipalityThe association says the situation is affecting both residents and shopkeepers. In a recent meeting with local businessmen, they have put on the table various concerns related to theft, vandalism and assaults, problems that, according to denounce, have been increasing in recent months. One of the most controversial points is the existence of an apartment under the guardianship of the Consell de Ibiza, where unaccompanied minors reside. According to the business group, its location in the center of the municipality has led to situations of conflict that affect the coexistence and security climate in the area. They have also expressed their concern about the constant arrival of small boats and the difficulties faced by the authorities to manage the integration of migrants.
Call for more police control and coordination
Given this situation, Santa Eulària Empresarial has requested a greater involvement of the administrations and the State Security Forces and Corps (FFCCSSEE), demanding a reinforcement in the controls and surveillance in the streets of the municipality. In their communiqué, they emphasize that many shopkeepers have been victims of robberies and vandalism, which has generated a growing sense of insecurity among neighbors. The association has insisted on the need to relocate the sheltered accommodation for minors outside the urban center, considering that its presence is generating conflicts that affect both commercial activity and the day-to-day life of the residents. In addition, they have requested an audit of the company managing the center to determine whether the supervision protocols are being complied with and whether the minors are respecting the established schedules and obligations.
A call for dialogue to find solutions
The business sector has emphasized that its intention is not to criminalize any group, but to propose solutions to ensure safety and coexistence in Santa Eulària. Therefore, they have called for an open dialogue with the Consell de Ibiza and local authorities to seek sustainable alternatives in the management of immigration and sheltered housing. In addition, they have expressed their concern about the lack of resources to manage the arrival of migrants on the island, a situation that, they say, could worsen if appropriate measures are not taken in time. In this sense, they have asked the competent institutions to strengthen surveillance, improve integration mechanisms and ensure compliance with regulations in reception centers.
Expectations of the institutional response
The businessmen have stressed that Santa Eulària has always been characterized as a safe and prosperous municipality, but consider that the current situation is jeopardizing that stability. They hope that their demands will be promptly addressed and that effective measures will be adopted to prevent insecurity and lack of control from continuing to grow. While awaiting a response from the administrations, Santa Eulària Empresarial has reiterated its commitment to the development of the municipality and has shown its willingness to collaborate in any initiative that contributes to improving security and coexistence in the town.
