Last year, the Balearic Islands registered a total of 15,311,569 international tourist arrivals, 6.15% more than the previous year.
This is clear from the Survey of Border Tourism Movements, published Monday by the National Statistics Institute (INE), which indicate that only in December, 182,446 international tourists arrived in the archipelago, up 10.18%. Regarding spending, in the accumulated of the year, tourists left in the Balearic Islands 20,051 million euros, 13.34% more, while in December, tourist spending amounted to 243.78 million euros, 13.48% more. On average, each tourist who visited the community in December spent 140 euros a day in December, 0.61% more than the same month of the previous year, and stayed 9.54 days in the Balearic Islands. In the country as a whole, Spain received 5.3 million international tourists in December, 1.1% more than in the same month of 2023. In 2024 as a whole, the number of tourists reached its highest figure, reaching 93.8 million. By region, the most visited region was the Canary Islands, with 27.50% of the total number of international tourists traveling to the country, followed by Catalonia (20.38%) and Andalusia (12.92%).
