For his better care, the injured man with serious burns resulting from the fire in a building in the municipality of Santa Eulària has been transferred to Madrid.
According to the Ibiza Health Area, the 38-year-old man was transferred from the Intensive Care Unit of the Can Misses Hospital in a medicalized ambulance, a Mobile ICU, to the Ibiza airport.
There, a SAMU 061 medicalized plane was ready to take off to transport him to Madrid, where he will be admitted to the Burn Unit of the Hospital La Paz.
The injured man is in “critical condition,” health authorities said.
The victim was sleeping and alone when the fire broke out in a room next to the balcony of the apartment.
The incident, which occurred around 6:30 a.m., forced the eviction of between 30 and 40 people living in the affected block located at 29 des Riu street.
