Two men were injured this Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision between a high-end Porsche convertible and another car on the road between Ibiza and Sant Antoni, at kilometer 2 of the EI-631, in the municipality of Sant Antoni. The incident occurred at around 19:30 hours.
Head-on impact and rescue of one of the drivers
As reported by the emergency services, the collision was head-on and involved a Porsche convertible and another passenger car whose brand has not been disclosed. As a result of the impact, the driver of one of the vehicles, a 66-year-old man, was trapped inside the car and had to be rescued by the Ibiza Fire Department.
The other driver, a 19-year-old resident of the island, was also injured, although he was initially treated without needing to be released.
Severe polytrauma code and transfer to two hospitals
A medicalized ambulance (mobile ICU) of 061 and a basic life support ambulance were sent to the scene of the accident. Medical teams attended and stabilized both drivers on site.
The 061 Medical Emergency Coordination Center activated the severe polytrauma code due to the nature of the accident and the type of injuries sustained by the injured. After the first assistance, one of the drivers was taken to the Policlínica Nuestra Señora del Rosario, while the other was evacuated to the Hospital Can Misses.
At this time, no further details have been released about the exact extent of the injuries or the causes of the accident, which are under investigation.
