The Consell Insular de Ibiza and the five town councils of the island have signed this Friday the specific agreements of cooperation in housing matters corresponding to the Plan Insular de Cooperación Municipal 2025, a pioneering line endowed with 3 million euros aimed at strengthening local policies and improving access to housing throughout the island territory.
The event, chaired by Vicent Marí, was attended by the mayors of Ibiza, Santa Eulària des Riu, Sant Josep, Sant Antoni and Sant Joan, and marks the beginning of a coordinated strategy to promote municipal programs tailored to the needs of each locality.
An unprecedented and unanimously approved line of business
The economic distribution has been set according to population criteria and was unanimously approved by the Council of Mayors. Each council will allocate the contribution of the Consell to its own housing programs, prioritizing rental aid, land acquisition, purchase of real estate and rehabilitation for social purposes.
Vicent Marí stressed that this line, created for the first time in 2025, “represents a real and effective commitment of the Consell with the municipalities”, as these are the administrations closest to the citizens and those who know best the local needs. Marí stressed that the insular institution “has increased its contributions with high-impact investments that allow the development of decisive municipal policies”.
How the 3 million will be distributed by municipality
Eivissa Town Hall will receive 1,003,156.05 euros, which will be used for three main actions:

Rent subsidies for resident families who do not receive regional benefits.

Rehabilitation of a municipal building on Avinguda de la Pau to create a youth co-living space.

Purchase and rehabilitation of a building on Verge Street, where four public housing units for young people will be built.
Santa Eulària: land for subsidized housing and technical reinforcement
Santa Eulària des Riu will dedicate its contribution to several complementary lines. The main one will be the acquisition of land and buildings to promote social housing or limited price housing.
In addition, it will invest in:

Specialized technical assistance services.

Personnel and machinery for archaeological interventions and land preparation.

Rental support programs and aid for the purchase of first-time homebuyers.
Sant Josep: the entire budget for rental subsidies
The City Council of Sant Josep de sa Talaia will concentrate the 553,970.27 euros allocated in a single rental aid program, aimed at families with difficulties in maintaining access to decent housing in the municipality.
Sant Antoni: grants for young people, residents and land purchases
Sant Antoni de Portmany will combine immediate aid with long-term planning. The insular contribution will be divided between:

Rental subsidies for young people under 30 years of age.

Rental subsidies for people over 30 years of age.

Purchase of urban land for the future construction of subsidized housing.
The objective is to increase the public housing stock and promote the stability of the rental market.
Sant Joan: rental support for vulnerable residents
The City Council of Sant Joan de Labritja will allocate the 129,752.74 euros entirely to a rental aid program for registered residents who meet the established requirements. The aid is especially focused on individuals and families in vulnerable situations who need support to maintain their residential stability.
