The Balearic archipelago recorded a slight drop in human pressure in October 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the latest data published by the Balearic Institute of Statistics (Ibestat). The maximum human pressure index (HPI) stood on October 3 at 1,760,555 people, representing a drop of 0.2% compared to the record figure of the previous year.
However, it is the island of Ibiza that fully explains this overall decline, as it is the only one to have registered a significant drop. The monthly average of the HPI in Ibiza stood at 215,468 people, a figure that represents a year-on-year decrease of 7.89%. In contrast, Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera saw their human pressure increase in October. Something that had already occurred in December.
Ibiza, the only island to record a significant decrease
According to the analysis broken down by islands, the behavior was uneven. Mallorca reached a monthly average of 1,276,307 people, 0.51% more than in October 2024. In Menorca, the average figure was 139,815 people, 4.20% higher. For its part, Formentera reached an average of 20,004 people, an increase of 8.53 %.
On the other hand, Ibiza was the only island with a notable decrease. The day with the highest occupancy was October 2, with 248,590 people, while the day with the lowest pressure was October 31, with 174,104. This evolution contrasts with the rest of the archipelago, where the figures were upward.
This behavior points to a possible change of trend in tourism in Ibiza, which could be due to factors such as the regulation of tourist accommodation, the increase in the price of supply or the lower number of air connections at the end of the high season.
Slight decline after a down summer
The minimum HPI registered in the Balearic Islands during the month was on October 31, with 1,417,111 people, 0.4% less than on the same date in 2024. The monthly average for the archipelago as a whole was 1,651,593 persons, lower than that of October of the previous year, which reached 1,656,399 persons.
October’s decline adds to the trend already observed during the summer months, when the number of people present on the islands was also lower than in the previous year. The only exception was September, which closed with an increase.
