The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Palma will hold next Thursday, from 09.30 am, the preliminary hearing of the trial against a man accused of slashing with a knife the boat of another owner on the beach of Illetes, in Formentera, after a previous altercation occurred in the bay of es Porroig, in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia (Ibiza), according to the prosecution’s indictment.
The prosecution requests a conviction for a crime of damage to property belonging to others and claims the defendant to pay 6,768 euros, of which about 4,500 euros would correspond to a fine and 2,268 euros to compensation for the damage caused to the affected vessel.
The case
According to the prosecution, the facts date back to the afternoon of June 22, 2024, when the defendant, who was sailing his own boat, had an altercation with another man who was aboard an inflatable boat in the bay of es Porroig, an area frequented during the summer season in Ibiza.
After that incident, the accused went to the beach of Illetes, in Formentera, where he met the victim again and slashed his boat with a knife, causing damages valued at 1,875 euros, according to the valuation included in the court case.
