Ibiza and Formentera lead the Balearic Islands in life expectancy, with an average of 84.1 years, according to the latest data from the Balearic Institute of Statistics (Ibestat), which confirms the Pitiusas as the longest-lived territory of the archipelago.
This is followed by Menorca, with an average life expectancy of 83.4 years, and Mallorca, with 83.3 years, both below the figures recorded in the Pitiusas.
In the Balearic Islands as a whole, average life expectancy stands at 83.46 years, one of the highest in Spain, although slightly lower than that recorded in 2024, when it reached 83.7 years.
The analysis by sex shows that women continue to live longer than men, with an average of 85.8 years compared to 81 years for men. However, the year-on-year decrease was more pronounced among the female population, which lost almost half a year of life expectancy, while men recorded a drop of slightly more than 0.3 years.
According to the report, the Balearic Islands maintains a life expectancy above the national average, driven by socioeconomic, environmental and health factors that continue to place the archipelago among the regions with the highest quality and length of life in the country.
