The Ibiza Town Hall will hold this Thursday an extraordinary plenary session to approve the collaboration agreement with the Consell Insular de Ibiza, which provides for an investment of over 13 million euros to finance the remodeling works of the EI-10 crossroads, in the section between ses Figueretes and Can Misses.
The project, considered strategic for the urban future of the city, seeks to transform the current ring road into a fully urban avenue, with friendlier, safer and more sustainable spaces that contribute to improving mobility and the connection between neighborhoods.
An urban integration project
For decades, the EI-10 has acted as a physical and visual barrier separating two fundamental areas of the municipality. With this action, the Consistory intends to put an end to this fragmentation and create a modern, green and people-friendly road, integrating ses Figueretes and Can Misses in a more fluid and livable environment.
The agreement establishes a maximum contribution of the Consell Insular of 13,006,440.78 euros, which can be financed with its own funds, through the insularity factor or through an agreement with the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the central government.
For its part, the Ibiza City Council will assume the bidding and execution of the works, as well as the adaptation of the project to the conclusions of the urban mobility study, the updating of prices and the application of the new structural code in force.
The subsidy will also cover the costs of project management and the preliminary actions necessary to guarantee the complete execution of the section.
Institutional collaboration and long-term planning
The agreement will be in force for four years from the signing of the deed of transfer of the road section between the Consell and the City Council, and will include the creation of a monitoring committee to ensure compliance with deadlines, transparency and coordination between administrations during all phases of the project.
The mayor of Ibiza, Rafael Triguero, has highlighted the importance of this agreement as a “historic milestone” for the city: “This agreement closes a long episode after years of talking about the need to transform the EI-10. It is a historical demand that will finally become a reality thanks to the collaboration between institutions that share the same goal: to make Ibiza a more cohesive, accessible and sustainable city”.
