A total of 28 migrants were rescued this Wednesday in Balearic waters after the interception of two small boats, while in the early hours of Thursday another 24 people arrived at Marina Botafoc, in the port of Ibiza. These new arrivals bring the total number of people rescued between Wednesday and Thursday to 230.
Two pateras in Formentera and Cabrera
According to the Government Delegation, the first action on Wednesday took place at 19.43 hours, when Salvamento Marítimo rescued 18 people of North African origin half a mile east of Cabrera. All the occupants were transferred to land in apparent good condition.
Hours later, at 23.15 hours, a security device intercepted in Pilar de Mola (Formentera) 10 migrants, also of North African origin, who had reached the coast by their own means.
Arrival of 24 migrants in Ibiza during the early hours of the morning
In the early hours of Thursday morning, at 00.05 hours, a new group of 24 people of sub-Saharan origin was intercepted in Marina Botafoc, in the port of Ibiza. The first assessments indicate that all of them were in good health.
Increased arrivals in a few hours
The last few days have once again shown an increase in the number of arrivals to the Pitiusas and the archipelago as a whole. Only between Wednesday and early Thursday morning 230 migrants have been counted, rescued in different boats or intercepted after reaching land.
