The mortgages constituted in the Balearic Islands to acquire a home increased by 9.2% over the year 2023, below the increase in Spain of 11.2%, according to data published Wednesday by the National Statistics Institute ( INE ). National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In the country as a whole, 423,761 mortgages were signed last year to buy homes and their average amount increased by 2.7% to 145,673 euros, with the capital loaned growing by 14.2% to 61,730.5 million.
In December, mortgages on homes increased by 30% over the same month in 2023 and reached 32,249, their lowest figure since last August, with an average transaction amount of 152,337 euros, 8.3% more than in December of the previous year, and the average interest rate on new mortgages stood at 3.25%.
