The Local Police of Sant Antoni de Portmany has launched its special security plan for Christmas, a campaign that will run until January 6 in order to strengthen surveillance, prevent crime and ensure the normal development of commercial and festive activities during these dates.
The device includes an increased police presence in the busiest areas of the municipality, such as the Passeig de ses Fonts, shopping streets, restaurant areas and entertainment venues. Traffic controls will also be intensified to ensure mobility and order at strategic points.
The Councilor for Citizen Security, Neus Mateu, stressed that this operation will allow “to increase the police service with a greater presence at the busiest points, ensuring a quiet holiday for all. Among the planned actions include interventions during musical events, popular celebrations and the traditional parade of the Three Kings.
The plan will be developed in coordination with the Civil Guard, the Agents of Intrusiveness and Coexistence (AIC) and Civil Protection volunteers, who will collaborate in prevention and support tasks throughout the Christmas campaign.
Wristbands to reinforce child safety
As part of the program, the City Council has initiated for the fourth consecutive year the distribution of identification bracelets aimed at reinforcing the safety of children in places with a large number of people. These blue wristbands include a space to write down the child’s name, a contact telephone number and the number of the Local Police (971 340 830), which facilitates a quick intervention in case of loss.
Wristbands can be collected at the municipal offices of the Local Police, located at 33 Alicante Street; at the Town Hall of Sant Antoni; or at the Mercat de Nadal del Passeig de ses Fonts. In addition, Civil Protection volunteers will distribute them during the special devices scheduled for these dates.
