The 42-year-old man of Italian nationality who was seriously wounded by a knife last Friday night in Santa Eulària asked for voluntary discharge this Sunday and remained in police custody, as reported by the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera.
The discharge was formalized at 23.30 hours, at which time the patient, until then admitted to the ICU of the Hospital Can Misses, was handed over to the Guardia Civil.
The aggression occurred during a fight on the balcony of a house located in the central street of Mar, in the town center of Santa Eulària. According to the information provided by the City Council, three people were involved in the altercation, and the physical confrontation ended with the Italian stabbed several times, allegedly with a knife.
Two arrested for attempted homicide
The first body to arrive at the scene was the Local Police of Santa Eulària, who received a call about a loud argument after 20.20 hours on Friday. Two patrol cars with five officers, a police van and an off-duty police officer also assisted in the intervention.
Upon entering the house, the officers found the victim in serious condition and proceeded to the immediate arrest of the alleged assailant, a 74-year-old man of Spanish nationality.
The Guardia Civil, who took over the investigation after traveling to the hospital, also ordered the arrest of the injured man once he was admitted, for his involvement in the incident. Both were arrested on charges of one count of attempted murder.
Brawl under judicial investigation
The SAMU 061 team was in charge of the first medical assistance at home, before transferring the victim to the hospital.
From that moment on, the injured man was guarded by municipal agents, until the Civil Guard took over during the early hours of the morning.
With her release from the hospital and her transfer to police custody, the investigation is ongoing and has now been placed under judicial supervision to determine the exact circumstances of what happened in this violent episode.
