Ibiza is committed to new residential models for young people, with a municipal investment that will exceed two million euros and will focus, in large part, on the development of coliving type housing.

This was announced by Mayor Rafael Triguero and the Councilor for Economic Resources, Gema Marí, during the presentation of the Consistory’s budget for the year 2026.

The municipal accounts, which incorporate 2,376,990 euros from European funds, will make it possible to draft and implement several public housing projects for young people between 18 and 35 years of age, rehabilitate properties and transform commercial premises into new homes.

“That young people can emancipate themselves,” the mayor stressed during the press conference.

Three ‘coliving’ projects underway

One of the most advanced projects is the one to be developed in Isidor Macabich Avenue, where 72,000 euros will be used to draw up a housing project for young people on the site of the former warehouse of the City Council’s Fiestas area, right in front of the Peace Park.

“Now that we have the funds in place, we are starting the bidding process for the project,” Triguero said.

In addition, the City Council also plans to erect between five and eight residential units in coliving format in the UA23 plot of sa Penya, in sa Pedrera, at the foot of the wall, as well as to enable housing of the same model in the building of Sa Campanera, located in Major de Dalt Vila street.

Another highlight is the development at sa Drassaneta, which is scheduled for completion in February 2026. A total of 326,852 euros will be allocated to this project, which will include three housing units for young people and another three for welfare purposes.

On the other hand, the Consistory continues to work on the conversion of commercial premises into housing, a line that seeks to expand the housing stock in consolidated areas of the city.
