The Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) is looking for land to establish in the port the future “Logistics Activities Zone” (ZAL) in the port of Ibiza, an area specifically designed to concentrate, organize and optimize all logistic-port operations associated with the movement of goods.
This has been confirmed by the APB to La Voz de Ibiza. In this regard, they explained that “we have put out to tender a technical assistance to analyze economic feasibility and availability of land” and that this possibility will be included in the revision of the Special Plan after the process of allegations.

Therefore, a service contracting file has been initiated for the “location, analysis and evaluation of possible areas for the development of a Logistics Activities Zone in the vicinity of the port of Eivissa, including, if necessary, the drafting of the basic project”.

Logistics Activities Zone, under study
This Logistics Activities Zone, which has been implemented in the ports of Barcelona, Valencia and Algeciras, among others, consists of a space located within or next to the port for logistics companies, transport operators, warehousing, distribution and services associated with the logistics chain.

Therefore, the APB has launched a service contract for “Technical Assistance for the study, analysis, design and basic project of a Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) for the Port of Eivissa”, with a budget of almost 100,000 euros (99,999.98 euros excluding VAT).
The file details that “the location of the port of Ibiza, completely surrounded by the city, has historically limited its possibilities for expansion. Currently, the port has a shortage of spaces even – in certain peak periods – for the parking of heavy and light vehicles waiting to embark, as well as for the temporary storage of platforms, trailers, semi-trailers and other elements for the transport of goods and for the development of other logistics activities”.
Already the Infrastructure Master Plan, prepared in 2006, recognized the “lack of programmed industrial land in areas close to the port for the storage of goods and logistics activities. The current DEUP Report also states that, subject to the needs of the logistics chain for supplying the island, a Logistics Activities Zone could be required in the vicinity of the port and well connected to it”.
For this reason, the APB intends to “study and analyze in detail the opportunity, convenience and alternatives (locations, procedures, management models,…) to promote, develop and, if necessary, operate a Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) outside the current service area“.
The purpose of this will be to “facilitate such activities and offer space for parking mainly heavy vehicles and temporary storage of transport elements such as trailers, semi-trailers or platforms, with or without goods, with adequate services for them and their carriers”.
To this end, work has been carried out over the last few years on locating possible areas near the port with the potential to improve the services offered by the port to the transport logistics chain, “with suitable and properly organized spaces to develop this type of activity”.
According to the file, “needs have been estimated at a very preliminary level, requiring a more in-depth and detailed study and analysis of demand and needs, location alternatives and management models that, by means of a multi-criteria analysis (evaluating technical, urban and economic aspects, among others), will facilitate the selection and design of the most convenient solution with a basic project for the same”.
Two offers
Two bidders have been submitted to this tender: Mc Valnera SL and Teirlog Ingeniería SL.
After analyzing the proposals, the Contracting Authority has proposed the award of the contract to Teirlog Ingeniería SL. for 87,500 euros. on December 2.
However, the formal award has not yet been made for the execution of the work, which is expected to take 10 months.
