The Balearic Government has launched a “constant” technical support to the Consell Insular de Formentera to address the situation of the residence for the elderly on the island. This was announced Tuesday by the councilor of Families, Social Welfare and Dependency Care, Sandra Fernandez, during the plenary session of the Parliament, after an interpellation of the Socialist deputy Omar Lamin.
Fernandez pointed out that the main source of the difficulties detected in the service-derived from sudden leaves of absence and previously scheduled vacation periods among the professionals-is already solved. As he explained, the Autonomous Executive has followed the issue “with the utmost attention” from the very first moment, maintaining permanent coordination with the insular institution.

The councilor defended that the Govern has acted “with total diligence” in the face of the problems that have arisen, although she recalled that the competence in matters of inspection falls exclusively on the Consell Insular de Formentera. For this reason, she affirmed that it is not up to her to offer detailed explanations on the daily management of the center, “out of respect” for the competence of the institution.
