The veteran journalist Ángeles Bravo, one of the best-known voices and faces of RTVE news, has said goodbye to her professional career with an emotional farewell that has moved colleagues and viewers. After more than three decades dedicated to news in public television, Bravo is retiring, and her colleagues of Canal 24 Horas wanted to pay tribute to her with a sweet surprise that collected the most emblematic moments of her career.
The farewell was lived amid tears, memories and applause, in an atmosphere of recognition that is rarely seen in a newsroom. The journalist received the affection of those who have worked with her for years and of an entire generation of professionals who grew up covering news with her.
An unexpected tribute in the editorial office
The surprise for Ángeles Bravo came while the presenter herself was going over her work notes, without her having any clue as to what her colleagues had prepared. It was an editor of Canal 24 Horas who, in an emotional voice, introduced a video tribute: “We are going to miss you”.
That message gave way to a montage called Al partir un beso y un adiós, which brought together images from different stages of Bravo’s career, from his beginnings to his last days in front of the camera. The video showed studio moments, news clips, behind-the-scenes scenes and, finally, the presentation of a bouquet of flowers on the day of his farewell, accompanied by chants of affection from the whole team: “Ángeles, Ángeles, Ángeles”.
Our colleague Ángeles Bravo is retiring after a lifetime of rigorously telling us the news.
Channel 24 hours has dedicated this beautiful tribute to her, more than deserved.

This collective gesture symbolized the respect and admiration that the entire RTVE team feels for a professional who has marked an epoch in the network.
The beginning of a trajectory that left its mark on the audience
Ángeles Bravo was born with journalism in her blood. Her career began in radio, in Radio Vigo-Cadena SER and Ondas Galicia Vigo, two of the media that served as her initial school. Subsequently, she was part of the radio team of the UNED, where she made programs with an educational approach broadcast through Radio 3 of RNE.
It was in 1988 when she made the leap to Televisión Española, a step that would make her one of the strongest figures of the house for decades. That same year she joined as editor and occasional presenter of the news program Buenos días, marking the beginning of a professional relationship that would last until her retirement.
A career linked to TVE’s news programs
Throughout her career, Ángeles Bravo performed a multitude of functions within RTVE, in a progression that led her to be present in many of the most emblematic news formats of the channel. Between 1996 and 1999, she was presenter of TVE’s Telediario Matinal. Later, between 1999 and 2003, she was head of the Society and Culture Area of the Weekend News.
His voice and presence were also at the head of programs such as La 2 noticias and the third edition of Telediario. From September 2007 to October 2018, she hosted La mañana en 24 horas, a space in which she also combined substitutes in other news formats: Telediario Matinal between 2010 and 2012, and Los desayunos de TVE between 2012 and 2014.
In 2012 and until 2019, she presented Audiencia abierta, a program focused on the Head of State broadcast on La 1. In recent years, she has worked as an editor in the Society Area of TVE’s news programs and held the position of assistant to the director of the National News Area.
Until just a few days ago, Bravo was one of the main presenters on Channel 24 hours during the weekend afternoons, a space where her experience and professionalism were evident in each broadcast.
Anecdotes and endearing moments
Ángeles Bravo’s career will also be remembered for moments of complicity and humor with her colleagues. One of the most memorable episodes happened more than a year ago, during a broadcast of Canal 24 horas with Beatriz Pérez-Aranda, another of the legendary faces of the channel.
On that occasion, a problem with the teleprompter caused Pérez-Aranda to mispronounce the name of a Disney character: “90 years ago Walt Disney was unveiling one of his star characters, the great friend of Mickey Mouse and Gofy.” Upon realizing their own slip-up in misnaming the protagonist, both presenters burst into laughter that went viral among the channel’s followers.
This spontaneity, far from detracting from her professionalism, showed a human and close side of what has been one of the most respected figures in Spanish television news.
