The actor Antonio Resines, one of the most popular and respected interpreters of the Spanish audiovisual industry, has once again worried his followers after learning that he has been admitted to the ICU for several days. At the age of 71, the actor has had to undergo a new medical episode which, although it initially alarmed his entourage, is now out of danger, according to sources close to him.
The news has generated a strong commotion in the cultural sector, especially after the serious health problems he experienced during the pandemic. However, the message that his friends and colleagues are sending today is unanimous: peace of mind.
Loles León launches a hopeful warning: “Nothing to worry about”.
The first to publicly confirm the good prognosis was Loles León, Resines’ close friend and partner in La niña de tus ojos. The actress was emphatic: “He is very well, very lively, looking forward to going out for beers”. She also assured that she has been in constant contact with him during his admission: “I have sent him many messages. A lot. Nothing to worry about”.
His statements, made during the premiere of the documentary Flores para Antonio, by Alba Flores, have served to calm the atmosphere and dispel fears.
Carmen Machi also reassures: “Antonio is life”.
Another authoritative voice who wanted to send a message of calm was Carmen Machi, who has recently worked with Resines in several film projects. The actress put it bluntly: “Antonio is life. He has a motor inside him that is inexhaustible, there is no need to worry. Antonio is a crack. Yes, yes, I can vouch for that”.
Machi, visibly moved when talking about him, underlined his vital energy and his unrepeatable character: “Antonio is a tremendously generous guy, he enjoys life, he is a hedonist, he likes to work a lot, but he likes to finish his work very soon. He is a crack, I adore him. And I think we all adore him. He is art, he is strong”.
Resines, true to his humor: “I have no interest in dying”.
The actor himself had recently shown his good mood and his recovery after his serious admission during the pandemic. In an interview with ¡HOLA! he said he was “great”. With his usual irony, he added: “Fully recovered” and finished: “I have no interest in dying”.
This mixture of humor and tenacity has characterized the life and professional career of Resines, who has always faced medical challenges with honesty and surprising optimism.
A life marked by resilience: “iron ill-health
Those who know him closely often say that he has an “iron bad health”, an expression that fits perfectly with his history. In the last decade, Resines has undergone several complicated medical tests, but he has always come through.
In 2015 he underwent surgery for colon cancer and, days before that intervention, he suffered an angina pectoris that he himself described as a borderline episode: “I was saved by a miracle”. In 2018 he had to undergo a new operation due to the osteoarthritis he suffers from, which forced him to be fitted with a hip prosthesis.
He told it with humor in La Revuelta: “My left leg is very bad. I have a lot of operations… I have nails, plates, broken bits inside the bones… If you touch my leg you can feel the nails”. This latest admission to the ICU adds to this chain of shocks, but also to the actor’s constant ability to recover.
