Concern in Cayetano Rivera ‘s entourage after a new incident. The bullfighter, 47 years old, suffered this Sunday a traffic accident when he crashed the van he was driving against a palm tree, as reported by the newspaper ABC. The events occurred around 21:00 hours, at the exit of the Real Club Sevilla Golf, in Alcalá de Guadaíra (Seville), where the son of Carmina Ordóñez lost control of the vehicle.
Although Cayetano was unharmed, the accident has caused concern because of the positive result in the alcohol test, according to the same sources. The impact was of such magnitude that the bullfighter invaded a landscaped traffic circle of the exclusive club and knocked down the tree against which he crashed.
A new episode in a few months
This accident comes barely six months after another incident that also placed Cayetano Rivera at the center of controversy. Last June 30, the program Y ahora Sonsoles reported his arrest for an alleged assault on a police officer at a well-known fast food restaurant in Atocha (Madrid).
That episode took place in the middle of the night. According to witnesses quoted by the program, the bullfighter argued with several employees of the establishment, who alerted the authorities after considering that the client was not respecting the rules and maintained an aggressive attitude. When the police arrived at the establishment, Cayetano confronted one of the agents and ended up arrested for an alleged crime of resistance and disobedience to authority.
The diestro spent the night at the police station and, after his release, avoided making any public statements on the matter. The incident, however, had immediate consequences on his professional career.
Cancellations and temporary withdrawal from the arena
After his arrest, Cayetano Rivera announced that he had to cancel several bullfights scheduled in his bullfighting calendar. The suspensions affected such important places as Burgos, Santander, Ciudad Real and Malaga, arguing that he was not physically prepared to continue.
At the end of August, the bullfighter reappeared with a message on social networks that hinted at a complicated period both personally and professionally: “I am very happy to inform you that, after almost two months without being able to wear a bullfighter’s hat, this Saturday 23rd I will reappear in Tomelloso. The wait has been long, but finally I return to the ring with the illusion of always.”
His return was short-lived. Barely a month later, on September 20, Cayetano Rivera said his final farewell to the bullfighting ring. The bullfighter thus closed a period marked by personal ups and downs, injuries and media controversies.
Seville accident under investigation
The new incident in Alcalá de Guadaíra has reopened the debate about Cayetano’s personal situation. According to ABC, the vehicle Cayetano was driving invaded the garden of the traffic circle after losing control at the exit of the club. The emergency services rushed to the scene, but it was not necessary to take him to hospital, as he was not seriously injured.
The traffic officers who attended the accident performed a breathalyzer test, which gave a positive result. For the moment, no details have been released regarding the legal consequences of the incident, although the case could result in an administrative or criminal sanction, depending on the level of alcohol detected.
Concern about his state of mind
The bullfighter’s entourage, according to the specialized press, is concerned about his emotional and personal state. In recent years, Cayetano has gone through a period of intense media exposure, especially since his separation from the presenter Eva González, with whom he has a son in common.
Added to this are the physical problems derived from his bullfighting career and the public incidents that have affected his reputation. His closest environment assures that he is focused on seeking personal stability away from the spotlight, although the latest events have once again placed him at the center of the controversy.
A life marked by media pressure
Son of Carmina Ordóñez and Paquirri, and brother of Francisco Rivera, Cayetano has lived under media scrutiny since he was a child. His love life, his career in the bullring and his personal decisions have always been the subject of public attention.
Unlike his brother Francisco, who combines family life with television appearances, Cayetano has preferred to keep a more discreet profile, although his recent episodes have complicated that intention.
In recent years, he has participated in several charity projects and has maintained links with the world of fashion and advertising, collaborating with brands such as Giorgio Armani or Scalpers, trying to diversify his career beyond bullfighting.
