Disability Day: Ibiza launches inclusive activities to highlight and celebrate diversity

The Consell Insular presents a program of cultural, social and educational activities open to all the citizenship

The Consell de Ibiza, in collaboration with ASPANADIF, DISCARED and the city councils of Ibiza and Santa Eulària des Riu, has launched an extensive program on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is celebrated on December 3. The initiatives, aimed at both users and the general public, seek to make diversity visible, promote full participation and reinforce the commitment of the administration to equality and accessibility.

The Councilor for Social Welfare, Family and Equality, Carolina Escandell, stressed that this program allows “public recognition of the capabilities, creativity and strength of people with disabilities”, underlining the importance of the motto proposed by the UN for 2025: “Fostering disability-inclusive societies to advance social progress”.

Programming open to the public

The activities start on November 28 with the screening of the documentary El gigante de es Vedrà“, by Héctor Escandell, at the Multicines Eivissa, aimed at users of the Network of Attention to People with Disabilities. On November 29, Vara de Rey will host the inclusive party Ibiza Love Retro between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., a musical and participatory event open to all citizens.

On December 3, the Jesus Cultural Center will host the conference “Protected heritage for people with disabilities”, aimed at families, professionals and the general public.

The program will culminate with an exhibition of Christmas cards made by users of the Cas Serres Center, available from December 3 until January 6 at the headquarters of the Consell.

Services and resources for inclusion in Ibiza

The Consell Insular manages a wide network of resources aimed at promoting autonomy and full inclusion. Among them is the Occupational Center for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, which serves 43 users daily with a specialized multidisciplinary team.

Also promoted is the Labor Advice and Insertion Service (SAIL-PD), co-financed by the SOIB and the European Social Fund, which during 2025 has assisted 87 people, of whom 20 have managed to join the labor market. In addition to this, there are places arranged with different entities -APFEM, ASPANADIF, AMADIBA and AEMIF- that guarantee day care, adapted transport, day centers and supervised housing. In total, the island currently has 40 occupational places, 30 in Day Centers, 27 in Supervised Housing and more than 100 associated transport places.

A strengthened commitment to participation and equality

With this programming and the deployment of specialized resources, the Consell Insular de Eivissa reaffirms its commitment to a social model that prioritizes inclusion, accessibility and active participation of people with disabilities. A message that is aligned with international objectives and seeks to consolidate a more just, egalitarian and diverse society.
