The change of the year has not brought new airs to the UD IbizaUD Ibiza has started 2026 as it ended 2025: without a win and showing the same deficiencies that keep it sunk in the standings.
The 0-1 defeat against Eldense at Can Misses leaves the team in a delicate situation, with the relegation zone ever closer and with no clear signs of improvement, neither in the game nor in the results.
Eldense, who had not won away from home this season, took all three points effectively, punishing the home side’s lack of punch and concentration.
No goal and no reaction
The mistakes repeated throughout the campaign once again took their toll on the Celestes: lack of effectiveness in the opponent’s area, defensive lapses in specific actions, and a flat soccer without spark. Despite having more possession, the Ibizan team hardly generated danger and showed a worrying lack of ideas to unbalance the rival.
The clearest chance of the match for the locals came shortly after the start, when Davo was alone in front of the visiting goalkeeper, Ramón Vila, but his shot was saved with a saving intervention.
Shortly after, Eldense scored in their only clear arrival of the first half: a combination between Fidel and Ibarrondo on the right flank and a back pass for Bellari to score at pleasure. The contrast of effectiveness in the areas was reflected in the scoreboard.
Changes without effect and predictable play
At the restart, UD Ibiza kept possession, but without generating real danger. Coach Miguel Álvarez opted for Del Olmo as an organizer, Manu Pedre in the back line and a double forward with Davo and Sofiane, but the proposal had no effect.
Del Olmo tried to give more clarity to the ball, although he almost made a serious mistake in a transfer that Monju saved under the posts.
The changes came late -four substitutions in the last quarter of an hour- and did not change the direction of a team without offensive solutions. Just a few balls into the area and a final attempt at a set piece in which Ramón Juan, the local goalkeeper, went up for a shot, generated some uncertainty. However, the action was disallowed for offside.
Next target: Cartagena
With this new defeat, UD Ibiza continues without breaking its bad dynamic. The fans are beginning to lose patience, while the club hopes that the winter market will bring reinforcements to revive a project that, for the moment, does not work.
The next league match will be on January 11 against FC Cartagena, a match in which the Celestes are obliged to score points to avoid sinking even further in the table.
