The president of Balearic Islands Port Authority, Javier Sanzhas predicted that the prices of moorings in the port of La Savina will be lowered thanks to efficiency that will allow the unification of the two marinas into one single long-term concession which will favor investment; he assured that Sustainable Ports and Coasts, through Port Nautic Ibiza, is complying with the conditions of the Temporary Occupancy Authorization (AOT) it enjoys and that in May it will install the floating dock committed to and has advanced that the transfer of the maritime station of Formentera is maintained in the Special Plan of the Port of Ibiza pending a new period of public exposure, in an interview published this Sunday in Ibiza Newspaper after having held two navigation councils of the ports of Pitiusos.
A unique marina in La Savina
The APB has decided to unify the two existing concessions in the port of La Savina into a single long-term management. This measure seeks to solve the accumulated lack of investment and the current high costs. “Duplicity of employees and resources makes no sense. With a single manager, we guarantee better efficiency, more modern moorings and a price reduction for users,” he stated. The new operator will have to build a parking lot with capacity for up to 250 spaces, in addition to undertaking other improvements contemplated in the port’s special plan, currently under review following the expiration of its environmental assessment.
Changes in the Ibiza Yacht Club
On the other hand, Puertos y Litorales Sostenibles, current concessionaire of the facilities that had been historically occupied by the Club Nautico de Ibiza, is complying with the requirements stipulated in the temporary authorization granted by the APB. Among the most important developments, Sanz noted the installation of a new floating dock pontoon currently under construction, scheduled for May. However, he warned that if the commitment is not fulfilled, the concession will not be renewed and a new tender will be called as soon as possible. “They are complying and we are satisfied,” Sanz said in this regard.
Special Plan for the Port of Ibiza
In the case of the Special Plan for the Port of Ibiza, the APB will submit for approval the allegations received at its Board of Directors on December 18. Subsequently, the Ibiza City Council will expose it again to the public, with a view to achieving its final approval in 2025. The Port Authority has ruled out changing the relocation of the Formentera Maritime Station provided for in the special plan and has responded to the allegations of the Apeam employers’ association with a study that guarantees maneuverability in the new location, on the commercial dock.
