The political group Sa Unió has issued a communiqué this Saturday with the aim of building bridges with the Balearic Government after the swearing in of Óscar Portas as president of the Consell Insular de Formentera in replacement of Llorenç Cordoba, removed after a motion of censure promoted by Gent per Formentera and PSOE.
In the press release issued, there is no reference to the absence of representatives of the Govern during the extraordinary plenary session this Friday or the announcement of the Balearic Popular Party of possible sanctions to the councilors of their group for supporting the motion of censure against who is also a deputy in the Parliament of the ‘popular’. On the contrary, it is a kind of request for collaboration to the president Marga Prohens to ensure governability and complete the legislature. “We appreciate the congratulations received by the president of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, as well as the president of the Consell de Ibiza, Vicent Marí, unquestionable allies to advance the policies of these islands,” they said from Sa Unió. In addition, they said they are “convinced that, with responsibility and unity, we can face this new stage with optimism and ambition”.

On the other hand, the coalition reaffirmed “its commitment to governance and the future of Formentera” and congratulated the “new president of the Consell de Formentera, Óscar Portas, and his entire government team to step forward with courage and assume the responsibility of leading our island administration”. “This moment marks the beginning of a new stage that should be focused on the welfare of citizens and consolidate an efficient and transparent management,” they said. In addition, they referred to “our firm will to contribute to the stability and governability of the administration after months of paralysis and a time in which wear and tear and ungovernability has been the prevailing tone.” “We regret not being able to continue the mandate in majority that our citizens gave us by depositing their trust in our formation, but started this new era we are encouraged to comply more than ever with the general interest and for the good of all Formentera”, they promised.
