The tranquility of Formentera has been altered after the discovery of two lifeless bodies on the beach of Es Cavall d’en Borràs, one of the most recognized places of the island. The event took place on Tuesday and was reported to the Civil Guard bythe 112 emergency service. The bodies correspond to two men whose identity and causes of death have not yet been clarified, which has generated great concern among the local population.
An isolated case or a linked tragedy?
Although the authorities have not confirmed the nature of the event, the possibility that the deceased are immigrants casts shadows on a reality that has shaken the Balearic Islands in recent years. Although it was initially speculated that the bodies could be the victims of a shipwreck that occurred near Formentera, from the Consell reported that “according to initial estimates, the men found would have been dead for less than a week”.
A sea of unknowns
The agents of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil have taken over the case and are working against the clock to identify the victims and decipher the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Meanwhile, the community of Formentera, known for its hospitality and calm, observes with concern the development of the events, which expose a harsh reality that does not distinguish borders or destinies.
