During the first day of Fitur 2025held in Madrid, Vicent Marí, president of the Consell and head of the Department of Tourism Promotion, focused his speech on highlighting the importance of the domestic market for tourism in Ibiza. Marí pointed out that this segment of travelers represents a loyal public that appreciates the diversity of the island and stressed that the strategy should focus on attracting them also during the months outside the high season. “We have to extend the season to avoid saturation in summer, always with the aim of seeking a balance between tourists and residents,” Marí stated, stressing that this effort must be a joint effort to ensure that the island remains an enjoyable destination for all.
Focus on spring and autumn tourism
One of the key objectives of the Consell Insular is to deseasonalize tourism, promoting the island as an ideal destination during the spring and autumn months. According to Marí, “the sports, family and cultural offer is increasingly powerful” during these periods, which allows diversifying the options for visitors and, at the same time, reducing the pressure on the island’s resources during the central summer months. The national market, known for preferring short stays of two, three or four days, is positioned as a priority audience in this strategy. Marí stressed that the challenge will be to convince this tourist profile to extend their stay, enjoying activities and experiences that complement the traditional summer vacation.
Intense agenda at Fitur 2025
During the first day of the fair, Marí held meetings with representatives of the tourism sector and participated in the presentation of the Spain Convention Bureau at the Turespaña stand. This event reinforces Ibiza’s position as a key destination for congress tourism, consolidating its reputation beyond summer tourism.
