The Regional Minister of Health, Manuela García, announced this Monday that IbSalut will reschedule all medical appointments and surgical interventions that were suspended in the Balearic Islands due to the doctors’ strike held between December 9 and 12.
Garcia made these statements during a visit to the Son Llàtzer Hospital, where she was asked about the impact of the health strike on the healthcare activity and the situation of the affected patients. The councilor assured that her department is already working on the reorganization of the agendas in order to give way to the pending appointments.
As he explained, the rescheduling process could not be carried out immediately due to the coincidence with the five Christmas holidays, a period that complicated the normal functioning of the healthcare system. “It has not been an easy situation,” he acknowledged.
However, García stressed that the Government’s commitment is that all suspended appointments and interventions will be rescheduled, with the aim of minimizing the impact of the strike on patients and progressively recovering normal care in the health centers and hospitals of the archipelago.
The Regional Ministry of Health insists that the readjustment of the activity will be carried out in a staggered manner and in accordance with the possibilities of the system, prioritizing the cases that require more urgent attention.
