A traffic accident occurred in the center of Ibiza has resulted in a fatality this Tuesday on Avenida Sant Joan, one of the main roads of the city. The Local Police of Ibiza has confirmed to La Voz de Ibiza the death of a motorcyclist, after an accident whose causes are still under investigation.
As reported by sources of the City Council of Ibiza, the exact reasons for the accident are unknown at the moment, although the first indications are that the driver of the two-wheeler had suffered a fall without involving any other vehicle. As a result of the impact against the asphalt, the motorcyclist was hit with great violence, which caused his death at the scene, around 6 pm.
Extensive emergency deployment in the area
The accident took place at the height of the Eroski supermarket, where a large number of emergency services were deployed, as reported by El Periódico de Ibiza. The operation involved four ambulances, belonging to both SAMU 061 and Grupo Policlínica, as well as police officers.
In addition to the fatal victim, a second person was slightly injured, although the nature of his injuries and whether he had to be taken to a medical center have not been disclosed. The authorities continue to gather information to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident.
Avinguda Sant Joan is one of the usual traffic routes in the city, especially in the commercial area where the accident occurred. The accident took place at a very busy point, which caused occasional traffic jams and forced to regulate traffic while the emergency services acted.
