The list of The World’s 100 Best Clubs 2024 was scheduled to be made public today at the IX Golden Moon Awards gala in Valencia. However, the in-person event was cancelled. in solidarity with the victims and affected by the DANA, as well as the V National Congress of Nightlife and the X International Congress of Nightlife. Thus, those chosen as the best clubs in the world this year (with Hï Ibiza at the head of a leading Spain), were announced through social networks during this Wednesday, November 20.
The decision of Spain Nightlife and the International Nightlife Association to cancel the event in Valencia was not the only one they took after the DANA. They also launched a solidarity campaign. Precisely because of all this, the first statements of the manager of the Ibiza Leisure Association, José Luis Benítez, are of “affection and solidarity” with the families who are suffering the tragedy in Valencia.
Benítez has also made a public call to join the Nightlife Stands With Valencia campaign launched by the national and international employers’ associations of the sector on November 4. Benítez reminds that, through this solidarity action, nightlife venues in Spain and around the world, DJs, clients, and brands linked to nightlife, as well as collaborators in the sector, are urged to make donations that will go to the Valencia Food Bank, the Valencia Red Cross and the Valencia Diocesan Caritas. The campaign is now open, people interested in participating can make their donations to the account ES63 0182 2770 9102 0177 9826 that the International Nightlife Association has opened at BBVA, including their name and the message #SOSValencia.
Hï, and more Ibiza clubs among the best in the world 2024
In relation to the INA classification, Benítez highlights the new success achieved by the island’s establishments and especially those associated with the Asociación Ocio de Ibiza, which year after year receive international recognition.
“We demonstrate that we are at the forefront of the global music industry because the sector does not stop investing, innovating and improving quality, safety and service,” and because the recognition achieved “is the result of the commitment and effort of entrepreneurs and workers,” he emphasizes.
“I will never tire of repeating that in very few places in the world you can find the best DJ’s of the international scene. Ibiza sets the trend”.
For Benítez, “leisure is an inseparable complement to the sun and beach, gastronomic, cultural and sports offer, and is also fully compatible with family tourism. One offer does not exclude the others”.
The manager highlights the sector’s firm commitment to lengthen the season -from April to October- and, therefore, “the extension of labor contracts”, a “positive aspect” which, he stresses, also encourages the complementary offer, hotels and transport, among other sectors, “to keep staff active for longer”.
Asociación Ocio de Ibiza, with another successful year
But for Benítez, “the success achieved by the leisure sector is above all the success of the Ibiza brand, of all those entrepreneurs, citizens and institutions that work hard for a first-class, quality tourism brand, and that make the island an open, more sustainable and welcoming destination. Ibiza is the common thread, the engine, leisure is just an appendix, one more piece of the gear”, he asserts.
However, the manager of the Leisure Association of Ibiza insists that “there are still many things to improve” in the entertainment industry as “the fight against intrusion, coexistence with the resident population, combating tourism excesses, the need to increase investment in training workers, sustainability and improve job stability,” because “it is increasingly difficult to attract workers due to problems of first level that drags the island as the difficulty of finding affordable housing because of mostly illegal tourist rental.
